We Are Change Ireland interviewed on the Alex Jones Radio Show which is broadcasted live in a number of large cities and is the #1 online radio show in the world with a listenership in the millions. Alex Jones speaks his mind freely and gets very upset about De Rossa attacking the public for asking a question and says, “this piece of crap [De Rossa] grabbed on them.” Alex also goes through the “main stream media disinfo op” and how they turned an assault on the public to an “assault on the EU,” and how the EU and MSM “can’t have one of their people assaulting Irish citizens.” Later adding, “That is why the main stream media are losing all credibility, that is why governments are losing credibility.”

Looking into the control and influence of the mainstream media in Ireland and papers like The Sunday Times Irish Edition highlights some very disturbing information. This paper is owned by News Corporation, the world’s largest media conglomerate controlled by Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and CEO.

His role in forming public opinion both in Britain and America in the lead up to the invasion of Iraq has been well documented. A staggering list of media assets owned by News Corporation, including SKY and FOX News, is available on Wikipedia:

Outfoxed examines how media empires, led by Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News, have been running a “race to the bottom” in television news. This film provides an in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations taking control of the public’s right to know. Here are some quotes from former Fox employees:

Richard Oakley, a reporter for the Sunday Times seems to be well moulded in the Murdoch genre of ‘journalism’. His hit piece in the 20/04/2008 edition on We Are Change Ireland contains quite a few misrepresentations and attempts to discredit the group. The article has almost no resemblance to the interview he conducted with one of the members. The full audio of the interview is on the left (just press the play button).

Here are some of the quotes from the article which you can compare to the interview to see what passes for journalism in The Sunday Times:

“Proinsias De Rossa must have wondered was it something he said. How else to explain the physical assault that the 67-year old experienced as he left Liberty Hall last Monday evening”

Oakley makes a very serious allegation of assault, something the Gardai haven’t even stated occurred, perhaps Oakley should let the Gardai know about this assault and pass on any new information he has about it.

Sunday Times: “We Are Change Ireland, a “peace movement” and “community of truth seekers” with an appropriate acronym - WACI- “

Most people in the alternative media and truth organizations are fully aware of these kind of tags to discredit them from mainstream sources. There’s no originality in Oakley’s article, just the usual copy and paste gutter journalism.

Sunday Times: “The clip shows the MEP getting annoyed about being closely followed and intensely questioned before trying to push people out of the way. He falls as a mild scuffle breaks out, before the clip ends abruptly. It does not prove anything in it’s brevity”

Oakley seems to be contradicting his earlier allegation of a physical assault here, and one wonders about the integrity of this form of journalism, full of innuendos and contradictions with no real substance. We Are Change Ireland informed Oakley that they are willing to hand over the full un-cut footage to the Gardai as part of their investigation of the event, as they are completely innocent.

We Are Change Ireland are seeking a full retraction of this article.

Oakley has completely left out the question about De Rossa voting in the European Parliament to not respect the vote of the Irish people. As an anecdote, when my Grandfather was informed of Mr. De Rossa’s answer of “grow up” to the question “Why did you vote not to respect the Irish referendum if they vote NO on the Lisbon Treaty?”, my Grandfather’s reply was “maybe in three years when I’m 90 I will be grown up enough for that answer.

It is a very serious situation in any democracy when the media is owned and controlled by a small number of individuals, which is now the situation in this country. They control what is news and what isn’t, which subtly controls the minds of the majority of the population, most of whom get their news from mainstream sources. When they then seek to discredit small alternative sources and groups, like the big bully in the schoolyard it’s clear that something is going vitally wrong and danger signals should be flashing for the people of Ireland.
